The perfect cover for disguising weak and damaged teeth.
Our teeth may be harder than steel but this doesn’t mean they won’t break. Although made from enamel, which is one of the hardest biological materials around, the type of enamel which makes up our teeth is very brittle. If you have weak or damaged teeth, crowns could provide the strength your teeth need.
What are crowns?
A crown is a cap that is fitted over a weak or damaged tooth. This allows you to keep your natural tooth so you won’t need to have it extracted. If the parts of your tooth that require a crown are showing signs of decay, we will remove these before we fit your crown as we want to ensure the crown is placed over a healthy tooth.
What do crowns look like?
Dental crowns are made from either porcelain or gold alloy. Porcelain crowns are becoming more popular because they better match the natural colour of teeth. This means they are less visible and don’t attract attention when you smile.
Crowns are custom-made to suit the size and shape of the tooth it is being placed over. To ensure we get the right fit of your crown, we will first take an impression of your teeth. Our orthodontic scanners enable us to get incredibly accurate impressions so you can be assured of a comfortable fit for your crown.
