Fixed metal braces are the traditional orthodontic treatment method and are renowned for achieving excellent results for patients. Although there are other new appliances on the market, at Angle House we continue to offer fixed braces as a treatment option because we know they work.
How do fixed braces work?
Fixed braces comprise of two small components, metal brackets and elastic bands, which are linked together using special orthodontic wire, known as an archwire. The brackets, which are bonded to the front surface of your teeth with orthodontic adhesive, are usually made of stainless steel, but tooth coloured brackets are also available for a more aesthetic alternative.
We also offer lingual braces where the brackets are fitted to the inside surface of your teeth.
Fixed braces work by applying gentle pressure to your teeth to guide them into position. You will need to come in for an appointment every six-to-eight weeks for us to check the progress of your teeth and to tighten your braces. These adjustment appointments enable us to keep your treatment on track.
