In April 2006 the government introduced a new arrangement for National Health Service Dental treatment. All orthodontic practices in England with a contract to provide NHS treatment must comply with new criteria which is designed to prioritise treatment to those with the greatest need. Here at Angle House we continue to welcome referrals for NHS treatment for children. However as a result of the new contract, patients with mild irregularities, for whom orthodontic treatment would provide little dental health benefit, will not be entitled to funding under the NHS.
Please be assured that all patients (aged under 18 yrs) who are referred to us by their dentist are entitled to an orthodontic consultation and thereafter a many of these patients are likely to be eligible for NHS treatment. As before, some patients will be placed on a review list after their initial consultation until they are the right age for assessment and possible treatment.
Here at Angle House we can also offer independent orthodontic treatment for young patients who do not qualify for NHS treatment. Treatment may be directed for cosmetic reasons such as closing gaps or correcting mild dental irregularities. We offer easy payment plans to suit individual needs and after school appointments are available upon request.
